Since 2005, Christophe Sohn works as a research officer at the public research centre CEPS/INSTEAD in Luxembourg. Member of the research unit GEODE (Geography and Development), he is coordinating the METROLUX research programme dedicated to the analysis of cross-border metropolitan integration processes in Luxembourg and in other cross-border regions across Europe (http://metrolux.ceps.lu).

In his research, Christophe Sohn is investigating the spatial and political construction of cross-border metropolitan regions as privileged sites of globalization. He is particularly interested in the way international borders can be considered not only as constraints but also as resources capable to strengthen the comparative advantages of cross-border city regions. Christophe Sohn is leading the project METRONET (supported by the National Fund of Research) focusing on cross-border governance and policy networks in four European case studies (Basel, Lille, Luxembourg, Vienna-Bratislava) and he is involved in an ESPON project (METROBORDER). He is the editor of Luxembourg, an emerging cross-border metropolitan region (Peter Lang, forthcoming) and the co-editor of the Atlas of Luxembourg (Emons, 2009).

As an Associate Assistant Professor at the University of Luxembourg, Christophe Sohn is teaching in the Master in Spatial Development and Analysis (MASDA). He is a member of the GECKO laboratory at the University Paris X-Nanterre and participates in the COST Action Remaking eastern borders in Europe (ESF).

Christophe Sohn holds a PhD in Geography from the University of Strasbourg (France). He has conducted his PhD research on urban land management in the post-apartheid city (Windhoek, Namibia) under the supervision of Prof. Jean-Luc Piermay in the frame of a research program called Local power and urban management in Namibia financed by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Before joining CEPS, he has been research assistant and lecturer at the Universities of Strasbourg and Metz.
